01

02

House rules

There are five
01
No smoking indoors
Outside, gladly. Inside no, not even at the window.
02
Quiet hours 11 pm – 8 am
The walls are thin and the neighbours attentive.
03
No parties or events
The house is for people who sleep in it.
04
Lights and A/C off when you go out
A/C in living room (cools whole house) runs up a bill in an empty room too.
05
Close windows and shutters
Especially in a sirocco wind: the shutters slam hard.
Mosquitoes
May to October, yes — we are on the sea. Keep the screens shut in the evening and turn the lights on after closing the window.
Beach towels
Bathroom towels stay in the bathroom — sand and sun cream never come out. Ask us for beach towels.
Private parking & street parking
A dedicated private parking spot is available nearby upon advance request (extra fee). For on-street parking tips or questions, ask us or Mr Enzo when you arrive.
Broken something?
It happens, and it is not a drama. Tell us: it is nearly always solved with a phone call and no cost.
03

Waste & recycling

Five bins

Italy separates household waste strictly, and Monte di Procida collects a different type each day. The calendar is on the fridge.

Paper & cardboard
Boxes flattened; no receipts, no greasy paper.
Plastic & cans
Rinsed and crushed: they take up half the room.
Glass
No caps or metal lids. Mirrors, ceramics and lightbulbs are not glass — they go in general waste.
Food waste
In the biodegradable bag, never the plastic one.
General waste
Only what fits none of the above.
When to put it out
10 pm → 6 am
Bags go outside the yellow gate between 10 pm the night before and 6 am on the collection morning — not outside that window. In summer, a bag left out all day is nobody's friend.

Getting around

Train
Cumana line, Torregaveta terminus
Ten minutes from the house. From there to Naples Montesanto in about fifty minutes — no traffic, no parking. The best way into the city.
Bus
Line 101 · Bacoli — Napoli Campi Flegrei
Connects the peninsula villages with the Line 2 metro station. Useful for Bacoli and the archaeological sites without a car.
Ferry
From Acquamorta, in season
Seasonal fast connections to Procida (about 10 min) and Ischia (about 20). Foot passengers only. Year-round services run from Pozzuoli, with vehicles.
Car & airport
Pozzuoli–Arco Felice / Cuma exit
Naples ring road, then signs for Bacoli–Miseno. Capodichino airport is roughly 30 km: 35 minutes on clear roads, considerably more at peak times.
Tickets
Train and bus tickets are bought before boarding — in bars and tobacconists showing the transport sticker, or at the station — and must be validated at the start of the journey.

Emergency & health

You are staying inside an active volcanic caldera

Bradyseism, explained without alarm

The Phlegraean Fields are an active volcano that «breathes»: the ground slowly rises and falls, and small tremors are felt from time to time. The phenomenon has been known for centuries and is monitored around the clock by INGV, the national institute for geophysics. Almost none of these events cause any damage.

If you feel a tremor
Stay calm, keep away from glass, mirrors and tall furniture. Shelter under a table or beside a load-bearing wall.
Once it has passed
Don't use the lift, walk calmly to an open space and follow the instructions of the municipal Civil Protection.
Updates
On ingv.it and the municipality's official channels. If in doubt call us — we are here and we know what to do.

Don't miss

Miliscola beach
Dark volcanic sand, ten minutes away. Arrive early for parking.
Acquamorta at sunset
The evening walk: boats, ice cream, and Procida across the water.
Piscina Mirabilis
The largest Roman cistern ever built. Booking required, a few days ahead.
Baia Castle & museum
Closed Mondays. The widest view in Campania comes free with the ticket.
The sunken city of Baia
Roman streets and mosaics four metres underwater, by glass-bottom boat.
Procida
Ten minutes by fast ferry in season. Walkable in a day.

Where we eat and three ready-made day itineraries are in our area guide (and in Italian on the Zona page).
